    Something like this...

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/76maverick/turbo8.jpg ?

So fare I`ve heard of one guy using a 100 shot on a stock 200. If I were you I`d put some apr rod bolts in it before you went that far though.

I also thought I`d ad that the guy with the turbo 250 falcon forgot to hook up his blow off valve after doing some work to it a while back. When he started it and reved it up the boost shot up over 20lbs. The only mods to the motor is porting to the head , the carb , hair drier , and APR bolts through out the engine. He is lucky he didn`t crack a piston or something .

Hey bob, I've been hanging out on fordsix for years too, so much good info. I drive the Maverick as an everyday driver, so I really don't want to do too much to it anymore. The nitrous has been off of it for about ten years now. If I get to keep and drive the Comet (daughter wants it) Then the Mav gets 255 V8 pistons, maybe a turbo too. I don't need two hotrods, I also have a 460 in a 69 Mustang, but it sure is hard not to play with them both.

elliot, i'm sure that's the falcon that maverikrick was talking about. he runs at southwestern int. raceway in tucson. actually his wife runs it. best time so far i think was in the 13's. usually runs in the 14's there. it's sure pretty. my racing buddy had his black 57 chevy at the tubac show. drives it on the street. all the decals on the body are magnetic. he puts them on and off at the track.:)

The 255 V8 pistons will fit in which 6? 200 or 250? What do you gain? Better construction? Compression?

Never too many Hot Rods!!!!!! I have my '63 Ranchero, '71 Maverick and '48 Plym coupe. My kids have their own stuff. Dad's cars are off limits to them. Youngest (16) is doing a '29 Ford Roadster and his older brother a '64 Chebby. The older one is the black sheep of the family. Couldn't talk him into a good Ford.

I forget if they are too tall for a 200 or not but they will fit in a 250 just fine. You will get higher compression with them because they are taller than the 200/250 pistons.

Most likely it's for the 250 since it has 3/4 inches more deck height.

    Been there

The 6 cyl I pulled from my car before installing the 302 was run on NOS a few times, here was the breakdown.

70 model 200 cid 0 deck and balanced
30 over TRW flat tops with double reliefs from Escort EXP 130.00
ARP bolts on bottom end 120.00
80 model big log head 202/194 valves and porting 450.00
Clifford 2 bbl adapter with Holley Webber 350 CFM 200.00
    Clifford long tube header 425.00
    Comp 262 cam (I think) 140.00
Adjustable valve train from 170 cid engine 65.00
Duraspark Distributor with MSD coil and wires, adjustable advance 150.00
    Holley elec. fuel pump. 75.00

I had a borrowed 75HP NOS system that was sprayed directly into the carb
under the breather mounted to the carb stud. I think it was a Stealth System.

This engine ran at 175 HP normally asthpirated and 240 on the NOS.
These engines are good for high revving and boosters, they have 7 heavy main caps and are balanced better than V-8s. It just takes too much money to get them to compete with a V-8 but I'll have to admit, I had more oooers and ahhhers with the 6 in there.

The engine you built (200) is about the same spec a the 200 I'm putting in my '63 Ranchero, except for the pistons (small dish) and an Isky 262 cam.

I'm told the 250 will not rev as well because of the longer stroke.

I have a spare 250 and may build it with more cam and I have the Holley 2 bbl and the Holley Webber adapters. I think the 250 will need the larger Holley 2 bbl.

I love the sweet exhaust sound of a hot six and the moan  of a V8 guy when you beat him!(y)

I worked at LA County Raceway and the guys from Kenne-Bell and Ken Dutwiler would bring out their hot V6 stuff to test. Dutwiler just made some e-prom changes in the back of his truck and had an otherwise stock GN running 12's at 2600 ft altitude. That was an 11 second car at Pomona.

Their Super Stock mule ran in the very low 8's and was class legal all steel.

They sounded like a angry bee hive screaming down the track. Wish Ford 6's responded like that.

The 255 V-8 pistons will work in the 250s because they are about .080 taller than the stock 250 pistons(200s and 250s use the same pistons). This partially makes up for pistons that are .120 in the hole on the 250. The pistons on my 200 are only .010 in the hole. If you want to play with sixes make sure you pick up The Ford Falcon Performance handbook. It has lots of great advice and tech tips. I am building the 200 in my 72 Comet right now. Stock short block(53,000 miles), 260 Comp cam, 1980 model head shaved .060, and hopefully a header in the future.

I've got the performanace hand book, but never read stuff on the 250 since I was building a 200 at the time. Now It looks like I better revisit it for the Maverick 250 stuff.

    Thanks for the piston tip.
