I really don't want to drive it that far ... If I can figure out a way to trailer it I'll bring it .... Hey Waynes Ford ... you're going that way aren't yah? It ain't necessarily a trailer queen but it is a local yocal ...
JM worth ... would it not be easier to convert to cable clutch by modifying clutch pedal and most won't even notice Z bar is missing... Don't know if this is possible with the 4 speed but what bell housing are you using.. maybe look at that avenue... hope this might help... Don't beat me when we meet for the first time... RON
Crap! UPS rescheduled the delivery of my distributor until tomorrow! Guess I won't be cranking it up tonight ...
Nah ... I did call the mail order place I bought it from ... told them that UPS missed their guaranteed delivery date and are due a refund. Of course I said to make sure they credit me with the refund since I paid shipping ... It was guaranteed by today ...
Hope you get the refund, if your like me you would rather have the distributor though. I am sure your getting anxious to drive the car again.
Well ... anxious to get the new engine running ... my driver seat bottom is back in the upholstery shop. The frame had been broken and rewelded several times so it was screwed up so they are swapping the new upholstery and bun to a nice straight bottom frame that I acquired. There is a Ford show at Mustangs Unlimited this Sunday so I would like to have the car ready to go there ....
I love your stealthy engine compartment! Mr. Hines, That engine compartment is BEAUTIFUL, exactly what I want, a stealthy roller cam engine. Did you open up any of the sheetmetal on that aircleaner to let in more air? I bought a spare aircleaner (so I could keep the stock unit untouched for later) and I was thinking about where to open it up in the back. What intake and carbutetor is that? I was thinking of a blue painted Weiand Stealth and a Road Demon Jr (small, single inlet style fuel bowls). Does anybody know if the stock steel "Powered by Ford" valve covers will clear any commonly available roller rockers for pedistal syle heads? If not, are there any spacers for SBF valve covers? I used to see them years ago for small block Chevys, they were used with two gaskets and raised the covers up for clearance.
You cannot use the cable set up with the standard manual bell housing. Mechanical linkage pushes the clutch fork towards the rear to disengage, cables pull it foward.
Air cleaner has not been opened up but the breather flap is permantly opened. The engine ran fine with the stock configuration. Edelbrock 600 carb and Edelbrock Performer Intake. Pretty sure that an Edelbrock is just about the only aftermarket carb that will work with a stock air cleaner. The stock valve covers will not clear roller rockers.
Just a little humorous aside here... When Dan and I went to Tennessee to bring home his '74, he left his cell phone in my truck. About halfway home (we live a very good hour apart), I hear a phone ringing that I did not recognize. I find a phone I haven't seen before and answer it; it was Dan. He said rather than I turn around or wait for him to catch up with me, I could just mail it to him. I sent it to his office (UPS) in a FedEx package.:evilsmile Ain't I stinker?
Dan; might go to that show myself, if I can find the place again. What exit off I85 do I get off? Think I can find it from there. Thanks, eb
