Lookin good, are you thinking of going to small bumpers or did you just take the big ones off to lose weight? Looks like you are building one sweet ride!

    Robert...

...Have you looked for the weld-in brackets that mount to the taillight panel and trunk floor. I bought mine from John's Mustangs in Texas:
    http://www.johnsmustang.com/

I forgot how much they were, pretty cheap and a lot simpler than trying to salvage them from a donor car.
Also, I bought my bumpers from Bumper Boyz out of California.
That is the LAST set I would buy from them. I am on my 3rd rear bumper and I have a flake at 1 bolt hole now. I just bought them 18 months ago.

I really like the Bobcat taillight swap. Tell me, are they lit on both sides, break lights on both or what?
Good luck. What color will this one be?

well I was'nt sure If I would buy new brackets or fab my own......I am a glutten for punishment!!:D right now I have a fair pair of bumbers that will have to do......and I plan on painting it orange....but this year at the roundup primer will have to do:(......but It might get a little orange laquer mixed in the gray primer:D......right now I need to do the rear suspension(i've had the parts for 6 months).....and get the machine work done on the 429 scj block and get it back together......and for now the bobcat tail lights are just lights on the outside and reflectors on the inside.......Franks car (71Gold) has the lights on all of them.....It's a pretty sweet setup!!

as far as the exact shade I have still not decided.......but definetly orange.........the red on the hood was just rattle can to cover over the bare metal where my kids had been sanding....:D

I saw a picture, of a shot of your car from the back. What has been done to the rear of the car to give it that stance, and enable the use of those rims and tires.(Looks mean, I want mine like that) What size rims and what size tires are on the back? Also, how did the rear get that high, and do the back tires rub? Sorry so many questions, but I'd like to do mine like that. Thanks, Preston

    Ok here goes Preston

the rear height......I took the big a$$ 74 bumper off:D the wheel size 15x8 4 1/2" back spacing.....245/60/15 is the tire size on yours with an 8" they will fit just fine with no rub.......on mine they barely rub the leaf springs but I narrowed my 9" 1/4" more per side than the factory rear......I did that to allow room on the outside for the 26/10.0/15 slicks and I'm changing it over next weekend to the ladderbars and coilover........the 245's actual measurement is 26" tall and the tread is 8.5" wide

    Brackets for the trunk...

... I think that they were $13-$17 each. Lots easier than rigging your own or salvaging the old ones.

I like the early 70's and late 60's factory colors. Mine is Ford 2B bright red, so I went back original.
There was a '71-'72 Comet GT that just sold on E-bay in the original metallic gold. I picture that car looking very sharp in all original dress with new base/clear gold paint. I had a friend in high school with a S'lime' gold metallic '73 GT. When it was repainted, it was a sharp color. Picture this, medium metallic orange. Some of those colors look pretty sharp in todays base/clear glossy paints. It would be a sharp contrast to the traditional reds, blues, blacks and whites.

    Just food for thought.
