Well..... Saturday dawned pretty enough, but the day went downhill from there! I went to work, and on my lunch break I made sure that all of my fluids would be okay for the parade. Keep in mind that I have a parade in 4 hours! Went back to the parking lot, and was going to set my timing right. I cranked her up, adjusted the distributer, and then killed the car. Went back to tighten the screw, and it wouldn't. So I then recranked the car. THE STARTER STARTED DRAGGING!! So I killed it. Tried to recrank. Whiiiiirrrrrrrrrr I thought there wnt the flywheel. The starter sounded like it was ingaging. So I jacked it up (Yeah- I pretty well have a mobile garage in my trunk, you'll see!) I pulled the flyweel cover off. 4 BIG ROLLER BEARINGS FELL OUT!!! I'm thinking not good The flywheel wasn't hurt though, so I thought, It's been running without these bearings, it'll run without 'em now. (I thought they were from engine or trans) So I pulled the starter. As I dropped it out, pieces began to fall out of it. Every part of the guts had busted loose. And this baby is only 6 months old. Okay. I live in a small town, so I called the parts store owner at home and she opened up to give me a starter. She didn't have one! So finally after checking all of them on the shelves, I found an early mustang that would work. Went back and put it on, 1 hour to parade lineup! I still had to drive 20 miles to get there. Got into town, decorated the parade, and killed the car to await the beginning of parade. Started the car-it went straight into reverse! All I had was reverse! Not even park. So I jump out, and push the car uphill and had to chock it with one of my boots! Anyway, my mechanic was behind me in the parade in his car, and he yelled that he'd come back with his car carrier. So today, I went back to his shop, and found that the linkage had broken on the tranny. So I'm running again, but I Missed the Parade! Sorry it's so long, but I wanted to vent! Preston
