I stopped to look at a 74 2 door today. 250 auto repaint red/ tan interior. THE BAD: Frame is bad, crash damage to drivers quarter, doors are rusted out, sillycone on around winshield The good: Front sheet metal hood looks rust free, nice bumpers, truck lid looks ok . disk brakes, . good dash pad. It also had someting I've never seen before. It had fiberglass fender skirts laying in the truck. I took one out and they definatly fit a Mav. Not that I would ever use them, but just the rarity of them might make them worth something?. I offered the lady $100 for the car and after checking with her son she turned it down. I may go back and offer $200 just so I can get some parts off then part out the rest. We'll see...
Doesn't sound like a total junker. Good parts... could always return the extra 100 if she lets go for 200
'74 is a big bumpered car. You'd probably have a hard time giving away the bumpers. I can't wait to trash can mine... I would say its well worth 200 though for good fenders and hood and disk brakes. You could probably easily get your money back out of the car with those parts, but I wouldn't pay no more then 200...
Don't bet that big bumpers are hard to give away. They aren't as plentiful as before, at least in nice shape.
I just recently tried to give away a pair of big bumpers. Won't bother with that again, they'll go straight to the scrapyard...
Take Those Skirts And Put A Continental Kit On It ( Those Younger Guys Don't Know What A Continental Kit Is) And Make A Lowered Sled Out Of It Or A Better Shape One, That Would Be Coooolll, Like A Greaser!!!!
I was thinking of putting the skirts on my 4 door then a continental kit. wide white wall tires and baby moon hubcaps. and adding flame thrower tail pipes. Kind of a poor boy lead sled Lifes too short not to have fun
Weren't the fender skirts standard on the Maverick Marauder LDO edition? (I'd LOVE to see a pic of the fender skirts - installed. Please try to get that at least)
I am with you on this one for sure. All we need now is for someone to kick in some wire wheels and some curb-feelers.
