B&M/HURST auto shifter: How long cable? 4' 5' or 6'

    Hello
What length shifter cable should I buy for a Comet? They come in 4, 5 and 6 foot lengths. I figure 6 is way to long. A Hurst shifter would probably be the same.
    Thanks
    Dave

:) you need the 5ft. one as it loops around under the car. just checked the summit catalog. they come with a 5 ft cable. b&m part no 80605. not sure about hurst. i got mine at checkers parts store.:)

I just checked with B&M. ONly the 4' and 6' cable is avaiable for the shifter I have. Do you think the 6' will be too long? B&M can make me a 5" one but they are expensive.

sent pm:) as i said the longer would probably be better as you are trying to avoid any kinks. the summit catalog shows a 5ft. cable for just about all there shifters. what kind do you have? :)

I used whatever came in the box with my B&M. It worked fine. Now that I have installed buckets, I have moved it, and it still works great. No kinks, no binds, not extra friction. If you route it around existing obstacles efficiently, it should work with 5', 6', or whatever you have.

PS--be sure to route away from exhaust components, drive shaft, and e-brake. I wire-tied mine up to (something, I don't remember what) with a couple of ties, and have had no problems. Mine is kinda wired into a loop sideways, not vertically.

the longer the better. gentle bends mean lees kinking & less play in the cable.
