Where was it hot at? Your not makeing a whole lot of sence.

If the battery cables are old, you need to replace them anyways.

Do A Search On Wiring Diagrams At Top ,it Will Take You To Marks Site And Follow Your Circuits
If Your Frame Was Hot The Batt Is In Backwards Otherwise There Would Be A Dead Short You May Have A Parasite Draw (a Wire Rubbing The Frame) But Not Enough To Cause It To Short Out Start Disconnecting Till You Find The Circuit Thats Causing It Do You Have A Meter If So Put It On Volts And Test The Battery For Correct Polarity

sounds like a fire waitin to happen...check all your hot wires to see if they are touching something

I had a situation on my 71 F100 once where it would'nt start. Headlights would come on but go out when I hit the key. Heater would'nt work, wipers would'nt work but the washer would. Everything was just acting screwy. I had a meter and was cheacking things out when I grabbed the bumper, reached down to kneel on the ground and got a shock through me to the ground! I have never been shcoked working on a car besides the plug wires getting me. This really screwed me up. lol
Turns out that the ground running from the battery to the engine block had corroded up bad underneath the cable sheathing and had very high resistance. I changed the cable and everything was fine.
This was a really strange thing to me as it just did'nt really make sence to me.
Might want to check all your grounds and cable.

Well nothing would get power, not even the head lights. And Jamie Miles, I don't know where the source of the short is, all I know is that the whole body is hot, not just one part of it. Either way I found out the problem, my fuse box is lose and it was rubbing on the frame of my car. When ever it does that I can move around my fuse box and it starts working. I'm gonna tighten it today when I get home. That could also be the cause of the short in my dash when I plug in my wiper motor.

Not the case, it's not in backwards. And what do you mean by a dead short? If you mean that nothing works because of the short that is exactly what happens.

Something would have caught fire before the whole body of the car heated up. Your wireing harness would most definately be toast if it shorted out enough to heat up the entire body.

My bet is something else caused it (temp outside, sun, etc.)

No no no. When I say hot I mean that there is power running through it, not literally hot.

It's cool. So yeah, the problem with the short circuit to my frame is fixed (well almost). ronr11, I can't seem to find that wiring diagram, I tried searching through the forums (I assume that's where you meant to search trhough) and through google but couldn't find anything, can you give me a link, because a wiring diagram would be very helpful.
