Hey guys my 302 seems to be leaning? See the pic. I looked at the motor mounts. It appears that the drivers side one may be taller. Do you think someone installed an incorrect one? Thanks in advance,
    Mike

my guess....the rubber is broken or the metal is warped..... put the engine in reverse and a foot on the brake.....press on the gas and have someone look at the engine to see if it rocks.... the engine (if in reverse ) should rock up towards the drivers side.... and when in drive the engine should rock towards the passenger side....

i could be wrong on the directions...but still....it will show you if the mount is broken....or you can jack up the oil pan carefully and see if the mount seperates...

just a side note....my engine angles backwards about 5 degrees.... dont know why....but it is solid.... i just know that the top of my fan is 2.0 inches from the top of radiator and the bottom of the fan is 1.0 to 1.5 inches from the radiator..

The torque of the engine will cause it to move in one direction only .. whether the tranny is in forward or reverse .... you aren't reversing the engine ... just the transmission ... :)

Not true. The driveshaft will be rotating the opposite direction and with a foot on the brakes the engine torques the other way. I've done it a thousand times. The thing is that USUALLY the "forward" mount will break and not the "reverse" mount.

i've seen this before when you only use 1/2 the rods for a stroker motor. :hmmm: actually i would get underneath and measure the height of the motor mounts. sounds as if you got 2 different size mounts or possibly one of the frame mounts is reversed. didn't someone on here a while back have the frame mounts reversed and the engine sat too high. :)

Any auto parts store will have them or can order them. They are also on eBay all the time .. definitely at least one set out there now ..

    Closing the Thread!

Guys the leaning 302 is no longer a mystery. I pulled the Motor Mounts off to replace them this morning & the problem was very obvious. The drivers side mount was one inch taller than passenger side. I don't know where someone came up with that mount. Installed the new correct mounts & it looks perfect now. Auto Zone has them for 11.00 each. Thanks for everyones comments.
    Mike:)
