im not sure how hard it would be to do, but maybe you can go to a junkyard and have them cut out what you need, almost sounds as if the shops you went to want no part of the job, i bet if you keep trying you'll find one that will help you out. other then that your car looks pretty good, keep searching, theres other options..

can you give us a pic with the door open . It don`t like 4 grand to me if you have a welder and a sawza or cut off wheel it could be fixed for a lot cheeper than that .

There's nothing wrong with 4-door cars. Any Mav or Comet is a labor of love, and no one should direct you differently. My '75 Mav has been in my family ever since it was bought new. Many have asked me what I was thinking when I told them I wanted to resto-mod it, but I've found it personally rewarding--and people keep telling me that it's so unique and different that it's a "breath of fresh air."

    Don't lose faith,
    Atzy.

I have to agree on two points.

    1) The body man doesn't want to do it. Check around more shops.

    2) If you like the 4 door, fix it. It's your car..do what you feel.

I sell new rear quarters for about $275 so that gives you an idea about parts. There'll have to be some more sheet around the upper door sill where it is crushed, but $4000 seems a bit high for all that inclusive.

Pay no attention to what those people say about your car. It's your car and you can anythink you want with it, and there's nothing wrong with a 250. As for a price of $4000 to fix a quarter panel, they are NUTS!

I got a 76 4 dr, rust free, working factory air, factory buckets, factory floor shift, 250 auto, & ps that I'd sell for $850. Only problem is I'm on the other coast.

You need another car. 4-door rust free Mavericks are cheap. Just saw one on ebay sell for $1900. Factory AC, V-8, no rust, very nice 1972.

hey man it can deffinatly be done, if i can fix my cowl vents (still a work in progress) you can fix your quarter panel. just take your time and don't be afraid to ask for help.. and theres nothing at all wrong with a 4 door, all that matters is that it has a blue oval on it lol!!!

heres my daily driver, 77 granada 4-door 4-speed 250 i6 no PS or PB. all fun lol
