Does anyone know the correct torque for the nuts when installing a 3rd member? I have new copper washers and nuts...but I don't have a spec for torque. It's an 8-inch...

    Thanks!

I understand That your wanting to do it "Right" . But I`ve never seen or heard of anyone torqueing those nuts. (I always tighten them to...maybe 40 ft. lbs.???) Anyway ,I would call someplace like Currie enterprises who specializes in Ford rearends and ask them.Or
maybe someone here has a shop manual that specifies the correct torque?

Book calls for 25-40, but I have never torqued mine... (just tighten good with a 3/8 ratchet).

And, skip the copper washers. Just lube it up really good with a silicone squeeze-on gasket material. When you try to remove them later, the copper washers bind up between the bolts and the holes, and you will need a sledge-hammer or air-hammer to get them back off. I nearly did permanent damage, and almost pulled the car off the jack stands, trying to bust off those copper washers.
