Think you are going to have to drill and tap it.

fordman, many of the mustang shops sell brackets that are mounted using the tranmission bell housing bolts. This will position the pivot ball in the correct spot. Only problem is the pivot ball size may be different for the mustang. You may be able to swap pivot balls (on the bracket) to make it work!

I made a bracket for mine out of sheet metal. I believe it was about 1/16" thick(it was an old water pump backing plate). It used two of the bellhousing bolts to hold it. The bracket holds the stud that originally screwed into the block. I probably still have the cardboard template I used for a pattern to cut it out and bend it with, if you would like me to send it to you.

I believe Dan Hines recently bought the bracket you are refering to and posted pics of it here ...try doing a search ,and it may show up.

I wonder if a manual bellhousing is different from an automatic? I seem to remember little strengthening ribs on either side of the bolt holes on my automatic bell. Looking at that bracket in the link, I dont think it would fit.

I would think it should fit. If the bolts that hold the bellhousing on can sit flush on the bellhousing then this bracket should also. They only way it wouldn'y work were if the auto bellhousing was thicker and used longer bolts. Then the bracket would not be lined up correctly.

That would be real easy to make. For the automatic, it wouldnt have to be that thick.
