I'm sure most of this bas been covered but I still have questions. When looking at high performance suspension parts for Mustangs, many of which do interchange with the Maverick it is sometimes unclear to me as to what year to specialfy when oderting specific parts. I am looking to build a high performance suspension. If you look at such items as bump steer eliminator kits, they are grouped as 65-66, 67-68, 69-70, 71-73. etc. Are all the Mavericks actually the same as the 70 Mustang or would my '73 be more akin to a '73 Mustang. Any help guys?

Brad; when I rebuilt my suspension, I ordered the parts from a '73 Mustang, such as spring perches, ball joints, and other stuff. All fit well, no surprises. Hope this helps.

    thanks.....

Yes and no....lol. I'm pretty sure the same spring perch, springs, balljoints, etc. will interchange between most years. But what Im asking is what are the differences between the Mustangs year to year. Mustangs Plus lists three differnt bump steer correction kits 65-66, 67-68 & 70-73. I guess I should assume that the Mavericks' suspension geometry is most like the 70-73. Three different kits would indicate changes in suspension geometies. Thanks for your help though. I've got a ways to go on these modifications. I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row before I start spending on that. Right now I still have to get the adapters to mount these big ole wheels!

    Sure, we should be there.

Not sure how much we'll have done by then, but we'll come anyway.

The Mustang is wider than the Maverick so tie rod components will not interchange. The ends might be the same, but the center links are not. What is included in a bump steer kit?

I would not buy the bump steer kit 'til you finished the front end work ,you may not need it.

The upper and lower A-arms from 67 to 73 mustang are all the same. The reason for the different bump steer kits has to do with the angle of the chamfer of the tie-rod ends. The angle of the 70-73 tie-rods match the angle of the 70-77 Maverick/Comets. If you are buying a bumpsteer kit, you will want one for the 70-73 Mustang.

Spring perches are the same from 67-73. Springs are where things get interesting. Dimensionally, 67-73 Mustang springs will fit in our cars. That said, the Mustangs were quite a bit heavier than our Mavericks. Most people will find that a spring for a 67 Mustang with a small block will make their Maverick with a small block sit too high in the front. Look at a 67 with a 6 cylinder/no AC for the best starting point for most of us.

I purchased a set of the progressive rate springs from Mustangs Plus. As the motor is not in the car yet, I have know idea what the stance will start out like. I do know where it will end up. :D

As my project is a cruiser with AC, roll cage, lots of insullation for sound deadener as well as temp, I purchased the set for a small block with a rate of 390-520 Lbs. This should be soft enough in a staight line but firm enough when cornering to keep things interesting.
