Okay ya'll. I've just about got the engine assembled, and I'm about to buy the last few parts. Thursday, my radiator busted (6cyl), so I'm wondering, does a V-8's radiator have the outlets at the same places (same sides). The reason that I'm asking is because our friend that has a radiator shop says that he can fix my radiator and build it to hold the 302. If this happens, what water pump should I ask for. I guess what I am asking is are the 6 and 8 radiators set up alike, with outlets on the same side, and if I order a water pump should I order it for my maverick or my motor? Please help, will soon be ready to drop it in the maverick. Thanks- Preston

    TTT for ya Preston.

SOMEbody on this board should know the answer to this Q.

If I knew, I'd tell you.

I think you'll need to provide the year of the 302 (water pump flow direction differs).

    Good luck,

    Rick

Yes, they are the same. I just did that exact swap a month or so ago, except it went from the 250 to the 302, hehe. Lets just hope you have the 250.

The top inlet is on the passenger side and the bottom outlet is on the drivers side. for a V8 car.

    Thanks everybody!

Russ that's what my 200 6 radiator looks like. top pass. and bottom drivers. Thanks again everybody. Now then another question, what water pump to buy. Buy it for a v-8 maverick, or for the 83 302? Thanks again, Preston

    Pump flow....

...I can't remember what year it changed, but water pump flow changed on sbf's at some point. You need to make sure that the water pump you get is going to match the radiator you use.
The inlet and outlet need to align with with the radiator.

Make sure you get your water pump from some place OTHER than AutoZone. I tried to buy 4 (FOUR!) pumps through them because they all had either bent or seized shafts.

I got my money back and got one from O'Reilly that works just fine.

And yes, the 250 and V-8 radiators are one and the same. I had the local auto-parts store check the stock numbers on both and they were the same ;))))

Autozone carried this radiator about 2 years back and if memory serves me correctly, it was about $139 new.

    Regards,
    Tracy

the V8 and the six water pump won`t inter change the 200 and 250 won`t even inter change , ya can get some flex hoses if your stock hoses won`t fit. Good luck
