well i've gotten some things done on the mav and the next step was to test out the tranny so we lifted the rear end of the car and started up the engine(sounded way cool with the new coil and coil socket) and shifted the tranny into gear and nothin happend.
the driveshaft wont even turn,it is shifting since i looked under the car while my uncle shifted it

    any ideas?

    BTW: 302 C4

Dumb question, but did you check to see if it's got enough fluid?

Nah, still looks pretty much like it always has. The wheels didn't really fit it, they were just sitting in the wheel wells and I thought they looked really good on there. When I get the bumper swap rolling and put my Torque Thrust II rims on the appearence will really start changeing. (y)

Sorry I don't know whats wrong with your car. If it's full of fluid and everything is connected like it should be, then I don't see why it won't move unless something is internally wrong with the transmission.

    Was the transmission working previously?

    You sure...

the torque convertor is installed ALL the way onto the front pump sleeve and input shaft?

I'm not an automatic guy so I'm just guessing bit if the torque converter was empty, would 8 qts be enough?

should at least run with 8qts; might not be topped off at that level depending on pan, converter, etc

The torque converter can be bolted to the flywheel and not be fully engaged to the tranny input shaft(happen to me)When installing the torque converter it should have slid on,stopped, the slid on a little deeper. Two steps.

What he said. If it's not fully on, then that trans isn't going anywhere, and the front pump could be damaged.

I am guessing that the torque convertor was empty when you put it on? I was told to fill the convertor with fluid first and THEN install it. Not sure if that is what you overlooked. I do believe the C4 takes a total of 12-14 quarts on a dry rebuild. Are you putting it in the car after a rebuild?

    little update

i still havent gotten the tranny to work but then again i havent started the engine in almost 3 or 4 months
i just got the bumpers of a 72 mav to do the convrtion but one of the bolt off the bracket wont come off and i will have to know it off with a chishel and hammer
i still havent gotten my computer fixed so i cant upload none of the pics right now

as for the tranny i'm saving up to buy a C4 i saw in a magazine for under $1000
and also get a new converter i found out that the other tranny was actually missing some of its internal parts so it dindt work also i'm getting it redy for its paint job

    ok thanks again
