I am planning a unholy act on a maverick ,sorry , gonna cut it up and make it a Pure Stock dirt car, for my dad he ran a 70 Mustang back in the day and has always wanted to run a Ford again. Its a 72 6 cyl auto car, has anyone ever installed a hydralic clutch. I already have 2 rebuildable 351w, a nice set of 69 windsor heads w/4barrel intake, a 4speed new style top loader copy and floater 9 inch. The body will be mostly fabricated sheet metal except roof and trunk, to fit rules. Any tips or ideas would be appreciated. I have a few other projects in the wings but if ya all are interested i will post some pictures as the project progresses.

Seems like a bummer to use a car that's in good shape. Is that one pretty bad off? Tough to tell from the photo. Welcome to the MMB!

    bummer yes

:yup: Thats what i figured too. If i was still living in the great salt belt i could sell this car in a heart beat as a donor chassis:huh: . Its a decent mostly rust free example, but not a grabber or special edition of any kind. Heck all the fender bolts and door hinge bolts broke loose using a 1/4 drive ratchet. I was hoping to find a drag/street car cheap with some mods already done but found this one. I had originally found a 83 t-bird for free but didnt like the strut front suspension and four link rear, to simple and too complicated to mess with. As long as it wins races it will live on, if i can make it run at the front it wont get torn up, around here the guys at the front got to much time and money in their cars to tear em up. Heck the pure srock car i ran this past year had $7500 in the motor alone.
It wont be a torch and sledgehammer inspired project.

    :Welcome:

Is this not the car that was in the ebay auction with the '72 Grabber? Why not make that rusted out Grabber the roundy round car?

I'll probably get chewed for this, but I would swap the Grabber VIN and parts to that good body and use the rusted out body to tear up.

Or go find a Pinto to screw up and sell that '72 to me.

The fenders are decent, no rust except surface, the pass. door is a1, the drivers door has 2 quarter sized bubbles, tthe front valance has a small bend in it repairable no rust though including supports. the front bumper has a very small dent in the center (looks like someone shot it with a pellut gun, and has pitting visable through the spray paint (needs rechrome). Guys give me some idea on some prices for this stuff i could list on ebay? :smash: I ve got quite a project and wouldnt mind funding this project with a few part sales.:2cents:

Welcome aboard! it's great to see another dirt racer on here. I race in a stock class myself, but I tear up chevy's not my mav. :D I would love to build and race one someday, but around here it is cheaper to run a chevy. It would be great to see the transformation as you build her up. What kind of track will it run on? 1/2, 1/4 mile. banking? Good luck with the project and keep us updated often!

    Matt-
