I am looking to do a rear end swap in my 65 Dart. Can anyone tell me the width of an early 70s Maverick Grabber rear. Thanks

We have a 65 dart and a 64 valiant vert. Why not use a mopar 8 3/4 rear end on your dart? It should be a straight up swap, and those are great rears.

Hell if your going to go through the trouble, why not use a 9 inch and be miles ahead?

A maverick rear is 56 1/4" mounting surface to mounting surface.

Hey guys...why don't we move this thread over to the "Dart Forum" :D

By the way, since we are talking about Dodges...What the heck does MOPAR mean...is it an acronym for something?

I have always wondered that

Interesting...I would have guessed something way more intricate. Michigan Organization of Performance and Automotive Racing or something like that.

Apreciate the measurement. The reason I dont use an 8 3/4 is they are hard to find in the A-body format, and when you do find one it is upwards of $600 with a sure grip. I was told that a Maverick or Granada rear would work and would be cheap. I found a Maverick Grabber locally for $200. Just wanted to know the measurement before I forked over the cash. I will probably sell the rest of the car or maybe part it out. Thanks

$600 for a bolt in rear with a sure grip isn't a bad deal when you figure that you will spend $400 for a traction lok or auburn
