There is a 4 door Comet in the Pull A Part that I will need to get inside of the trunk today. Without keys, how would I go about that? Is there some way I can twist the lock out of it or something? This car will meet the crusher in less then a month so it dosen't really matter if I do any permanent damage. But I need to save that back bumper! I also need to get into the trunk of a '70 2 door Mav without keys to get the rear valance.

I'm thinking maybe I can just take a big flathead and a wrench and force the lock to turn?

Cool, that will work on the 4 door since it's clean inside. The '70 has had rats living in it and is a serious health hazzard as far as the interior goes, so I won't be getting in it. I'll just see if I can pry the trunk open some how.

Take a big flatehead screwdriver and a big hammer. Hammer the screwdriver into the lock cylinder until you can turn it .........or it falls out.

another thing to try if you can't get inside is to use a drill and drill the lock out, then go in with a screwdriver.:)

The Comet didn't put up much of a fight. But once I got it open the damn trunk lid wouldn't stay up so I had to jam a seat in to hold it up. :)

The '70 is a diffrent story. I completely mangled the lock and still couldn't get it open. I finnaly just said hell with it and took a big as screw driver and pryed both sides up enough to get a socket with a long extension in and take the bolts loose from the hinges. Then I could raise one side of the trunk lid enough to get my arm in and take the screws out of the lock. Then she opened up. I bent the trunk lid all to hell but it was junk anyways.

After going through all that....and the trunk lid was junk anyways....I would have taken my cordless saw and treated it like a can of beans. :D

Believe me, if I would have had a saw of some sort I would have cut that POS off there. It wasn't rusty but it looked like someone had backed into a pole or something and put about a 2 inch wide dent in it. Rust free, dentless trunk lids are a dime a dozen around here, so I didn't really care if I messed it up getting it off.
