Well I took the dive into the world of Mavericks. I hauled my red 1973 maverick home last night and the first thing I did was slap on some Cragar SuperSport wheels with BF Goodrich tires. That alone made a huge difference. Anyways I look forward to getting to know the users of this forum as I seek advice from wise Maverick/Comet owners. Hopefully I'll get some pics up soon.

I just added the initial pics to my signature. Anyways...here's the specs:

    2 Door
    200 CI I6
    Cragar SS 14" wheels
    No P/S No P/B
    Very little rust !!!
    Automatic...

I will definetly be adding a V8 (would love to hear opinions on which engine I should put in.) Also will be doing some body work and giving it a fresh coat of paint. I would like to get discs and but not sure how quick that will come.

Anyways would love to hear tips on what do do first form the seasoned veterans. Glad to be here.

Welcome, nice straight looking ride, hey check these guys out too http://www.cquesttechnologies.com/fspp/categories.asp?cat=56 Its Ford six perfomance parts, when deciding on engine options, you have a plant that might be worth modifying and having something different, I am planning on ( eventually ) building up my 250) looking at a 3 carb intake, cam swap and headers. Unfortunately I need to have my six completely rebuilt when I do this. I'm babying it (noisy valves and all) until I get the money together. Just thought I would share this.

    :Welcome:

A 302 would be the easiest V8 to swap in. Looks like a great car!

Hey if my eyes don't deceive me that looks like a Chevy Truck:16suspect :D , a matching Ford would be pretty cool ;)

Wouldn't it be neat if this was a sight that becomes more common all over the country?

People loading an old Mav or Comet on a trailer ( better yet driving it home) to restore. (y)

Heh...yeah the truck was one of my first vehicles. Now we just use it as a work and hauling truck mainly...Yeah unlike alot of others here, I enjoy the bowtie and the blue oval equally...let the flames begin!

I gotta say I am Tried and True Oval Blue, but, I have had 3 ( dare I say it) Chevys... I actually own an '04 Cavalier right now, My Wife had a 99 Bravada before we got married. I had a little ( God I am getting myself in deep) Hyundai Excel '03, with my daughter coming we wanted a small four door, GM offered $4000 owner loyalty cash.. Made the deal so I wasn't upside down on my loan. I have to say after 40k miles never had anything but regular lube and oil changes. Anyway I'd rather own a GM than any Chrysler product any day of the week. But.. My first choice will always be FORD. I have never owned a car more than 2 years, that is until I got the Comet which I have owned since '97 longer than any other vehicle I have owned.
