so ive been lookin around for chrome dress up kits and i keep finding them for the 170/200 should these all fit for a 250? (its mainly the valve cover i want) thanks in advance
Go to: http://www.fordsix.com/ They even have finned alloy valve covers, alloy heads, roller rockers and lots of tips and info. Gonna build up the 6? This is the site to help ya. I built a 200 for my '63 Ranchero that we estimate has about 175 hp Vs the original 120. Got a T-5 behind it. It sounds sweet and revs like crazy.
now I'm confused.... why is my Oil filler cap in the front and the PCV valve in the back??? I have a 250 w/chrome cover and now I'm sahmefully thinking I've done something horribly wrong after I've seen dixiemav's pic. while I'm on the topic...does anyone have a pic of the fitting/part name for whatever connects the line coming off the PCV valve to the base of the carb???? mines rigged with hose clamped to hose and I'm certain their MUST be an actual piece that serves this function thanks
Dosen't really matter which end which is at. My 250 has the PCV in front and oil in back. My 200 is opposite. But I have seen both 200's and 250's both ways in junkyards. The hose should connect to the carb spacer. Here is a pic of mine from when I got rid of the EGR valve. Find a carb spacer from a '73 and older. '74 and up have an EGR valve. You can see both kinds in the pic.
got enough riding mowers back there jamie? jcwittney has a chrome 250 valve cover for under $30 along with other stuff I was thinking adout getting, its a little cheaper than the ones on fordsix. I was looking for someone who has used it before I dished out for it. ya never know what to expect coming from china.
Ohh, and thats not all of them! Those are some of the "retired" ones that my grandpa now uses for parts. When you have that much grass to mow, you go through some rider mowers. Strangely enough, the one thats been running the longest is an old cheap 1979 Murray riding mower. We've worn out Craftsman's, Cub Kadets, Snappers, you name it, but that old Murray is so simple and easy to fix, it just keeps going and going. Kinda like a Maverick. I think it's on about it's 10th motor, 3rd transaxel and about it's 8th deck. Damn thing is so easy to work on though...
It's the factory 250 out of my '74 Grabber. It had 194,522 miles on it when that pic was taken. I had it out to swap the transmission and do a few other things in June of last year. I put it back in and continued to drive the car daily up until November when I wrecked it. I then bought my '72 with no engine or trans, got a rebuilt trans from Terry who got it from scrapper60. The engine is now in my '72 and still being driven daily with almost 207,000 on it, still runs smooth and dosen't smoke. I plan to run it till it dies which at this rate it could very well make it to 300,000 and beyond. Only major thing I've ever done to it was put new lifters, push rods and valve seals in and re-lap the valves. Can't kill them old inline 6's Fords.
