Hello all, Just want to say hi and and let everyone know that I will try my hardest to pick all your brains with any issues I have. Hope I don't annoy anyone but I'm new to the Ford side of classic cars. So I Just purchased a 75 Maverick, 302, AC , Dics Brakes. I will admit I'm not sure how popular those options were for the year. I know that this will be hard for some of you to understand but here goes. I'm a Chevy and Ford guy!! I have a 66 Mustang that we got last year for my son and I have a 67 427SS Impala. A supper hooded super sport. I'm doing a complete frame off on my Impala and decided I needed something to drive in the summer months during a slow restoration. I saw the Maverick and said that's way to cool to pass up! I'm wondering if anyone knows what's involved to put a 351 in this Maverick? I'm a big block guy and figure a 351 is not a BB but it should do! Plus what a ride it should be. Thanks for any help anyone can give me with this. Ron
Welcome aboard Ron...very nice looking car you have there. There has been lots of talk on the board of putting 351's in these cars and it has been done a few times. I suggest going to the search feature above and just typing in 351 and you'll find several threads on this subject. Most people would rather stroke a 302 rather than deal with all the hassles of the 351. It's an extremely tight fit if you don't modify the shock towers. Anyway, I could go on and on but I'm supposed to be working on my car right now so I got to get back out in the shop. You got lots to read and maybe that will help you make your decision. Good luck...and keep us posted.
nice car. i thought about bidding on it but i've got too many projects now. 351w will fit in but you'll never want to change the plugs. i'd stick with the 302. they can be stroked to 347 and there are lots of parts for them. are you from california? anyway welcome to the board.
nice car, saw it on e-bay as for the disk brakes i'm pretty sure they were on all mav/comets from 75 and up(front)
No I'm from Rochester NY. I'm having it shipped back. Did the same with the Mustang. A clean CA car always holds value out here. And worth paying extra instead of replacing body panels and floor pans. Thanks for the advise. Sounds reasonable. Ron
