is there any where were i can get a vinyl mat for a 72 maverick i dont wont to put carpet back in the car if there is a place like that i would really like to know thanks
Very interesting question, to my knowledge there is none. But I wonder if any other car has a reproduction with the same tunnel size that can be trimmed to fit, or? Dan
Good question. I searched on JC Whitney's site. It appears they do not offer the vinyl mat for our cars. I checked with "Blachford", the manufacturers of the ones that JCW does offer - no luck. You might want to check their CONTACTS to confirm they do not offer it. Might be worth a chance. Orrr.... you could check with "Jack" in THIS THREAD. His car had FOUR! He might still have one or two. Or, at least maybe can find the OEM manufacturer name on it. Having said all that, of the molded floor coverings I found for use in the automotive industry, the rubber (or vinyl) coverings cost the same, or about the same, as carpet. Good luck.
Rick is such a wise man for offering that crucial term,, molded. And the really critical area that is molded on our cars is the trans tunnel and the forward floorboard. The forward floorboard can be relaxed by heat, but the trans tunnel is the key. Hope we all learn something valuable here. Vinyl mats are cool. Dan
I thought ACC still makes rubber carpet. Problem is, its probably more expensive than regular carpet.
I have seen Molded vinyl mats for mass applications that are just hideous. Carpet hides some imperfections. Yup the molded vinyl is expensive. But I speak in another language for those chebbie twucks on this. Sorry to the Ford gods for speaking in foreign tongue. Dan
Just thinking out loud here: It would seem to me that vinyl mat would have a tendancy to hold in any moisture (condensation?) between the mat and floor, whereas carpet would allow some degree of air to get to the moisture and help dry it out. I'd forgotten about the vinyl mats until you mentioned it. They sure came in handy on a couple of trucks I had way back when. After a day or two of mud-hoggin', just open the doors and use the spray nozzle on the end of the water hose to clean the mat. It didn't matter that that the vynl seats got wet either. Of course, I'm sure this didn't help promote the longevity of the floor itself.
http://www.autokrafters.com/ Do a search for vinyl mat maverick. They have them in the catalog .149.95 Later Tim
If I see ACC at Carlisle next week I will ask them about it. My 71 has rubber carpet. I like it. Adds to that "No Frills" look.
