power steering pump pulley

    how in the heck do you get the pulley off the pump? do you just pull it off the shaft? is ther a bolt you have to take off first? i do have a pulley puller. i just figure since i'm at it, might as well put a new one on. thanks ed

    You need a power sreering pump pully puller. Please do not use a normal claw type puller. if you look at the pilly there is a notch around the nose of the pully. That is where the tool goes. Take it to one of the parts stores around where you are or even try a dealership and they can help you get it off. If you use the claw puller you will bend or break the pully.

    is there a bolts that needs to come off first?

    No, unless someone has put a bolt in the end of the shaft. The shaft is threaded so a stud can be inserted with a bearing/washer and nut to draw the pulley back on, then the stud is removed. It is just a press fit.
