hey brothers im a 73 comet owner, just last weekend i went to the hudge ford and mercy show in carstlie Penn. well of couse i went there for comet parts and to see everything. hundreds of cars in mint and bad condition, alot of mustangs and thunderbirds. in the miles of cars and both ONLY ONE guy had a comet 72, NOT one maverick!!!!!!!! the comet was ugly brown and in good shape but not the best. it had a sold sticker on it. i asked him how much did you get for it. R U GUYS ready for this 17,000. i almost fell on my face. i said are you sure how did you get so much. he said people come here to buy cars, when they saw i was the only one with a comet(and most poeple dontknow what it is) this person thought it was very rare and bought the car.

all i can say is WOW

there's one born every minute.:biglaugh:i'd only believe it if i saw the $17,000 in hand. anybody that spends that much on a maverick or comet usually knows what he is buying. i'd claim :bs: .

If you told someone in the 70's that all those low buck dodges would be going for 20K to 80K dollars 30 years later they would died laughing. Dodges were not known for quality, so they ended up being a second rated car, which means people dont care for them as much and end up crushed or crashed... Sorry to say Mavericks and Comets were not exactly the hotest going muscle cars in the 70's and 80's. As they disappear from junkyards and time moves on, these cars also will go for crazy prices.

I was at Carlisle and there was lots of Mavericks there. THere was about 12 in the show field, 3 in the car corral, and another 3 or 4 scattered in the vendors. There was also 2 in one of the pavillions. Only had 1 Comet on the show field and I dont remember any for sale anywhere. I must of missed the one you was looking at.
