I have a question about the front wheel well molding for a 77 ford maverick 2 door car. My question is if very wheel well modling from any year is the same for all years because recently i tried to replace the a missing wheel molding from a 75 to my 77 but it was shorter/smaller??? Why is this? I know trim is hard to come by but does any body have any wheel well molding they can sell me that will fit i only need one for the front side.
I would expect 75 and 77 to be the same. I would expect small bumpers and big bumpers to be different. I also think the part numbers are different for the rear chrome ... 4-doors have different part #'s than 2-doors ... Are you sure you aren't installing a rear molding on the front fender?
I think they were know that you mention it but iam not sure it was a long while back hard to remeber. I wanted ask you about the fuses that maverick uses i am have a hard time finding them espcailly the 75A and 4A one????
I am pretty sure you are looking for a 7.5 amp fuse. Your alternator doesn't even make 75 amps. Get them at O'reilly, maybe autozone, and if they are not on the shelf, ask them to order them. They are fairly easy to find. Where's Donna, TX? If you cannot find any where you are, I could stick a couple in an envelope and mail them to you.
Wow that does make alot more sense then a 75 amp fuse. How did you know it was for the alternator? I'll try auto zone since they have alot more chooces in fuses then o'reilly here in donna if i don't find them i'll send you an email to see if i can get some from you thanks. Hummm..... If i am not miss taken you should live close to San Antonio or Forth Worth which is a 4 hour drive from there to Donna Tx. Donna is in the lower part of texas (Rio grandy valley) the very bottom tip were texas meets mexico. The the town that make up the RGV is Mcallen, Weslaco, Donna, Brownsville, San Juan, and a couple of other. There aren't to mavericks here around 3 or 2 in pretty bad shape but i was surprized when i found out some one around here owns a Maverick Stallion!!
I live just south of Houston, kinda near Galveston. That makes it more like an 8 hour drive. Now back to those fuses, they DO make a much larger fuse that you might use if you are running a larger alternator, so that it doesn't short out your car. That one is typically 60 amps, but could be larger. It will be harder to find, but can be ordered, or gotten from JEGS. I am assuming you are looking for those little glass ones with the metal caps, big around as a pencil, that snap in under your dash and steering wheel area. THAT one should be 7.5 depending on which hole you are snapping it into. If you cannot find those, I can mail you a set. I bought mine in a package that had multiple 4A, 7.5A, 10A, 15A, and 20A (I think those were the sizes) assorted. Just a couple of bucks. The big one I talked about earlier will look more like a very oversized U-shaped one like they use on the newer cars, with the plastic housing and two flat blades sticking out the bottom. It will be about 2"square, or so. I don't have these, have no need for them on my car, but if you put in a 100 amp one wire alternator, you might need one. They will run quite a bit more, maybe $40-50 and usually require a special snap-in fuse holder that you put in line with your main alternator wire.
Wow that is a long drive from there to her and i though driving form mcallen to weslaco was long. That a pretty cool place to live nice weather there i hear. I found the fuses it truned out to be the 7.5A i hope because it fit in nicely and so far it hasn't given me any problems. The one i am woried about is the 4A could there be a chance its a 14A and the 1 just got easered over the years? The reason i ask is because the 4A fuses i put in seem a little smaller then the slot it goes in because it is the same size of the 15A slot ones? I belive it is one for the windshield box hopefully it won't cause any problems . That fuses you told me about the big one did it actually come in the mav's or is it a custom add on thing? What fuses does your mav have?
Sometimes you have to really look for some of those odd sized fuses. Some are just a little shorter, and some of those amperages are odd. Most on my new cars are 15, 20, or 30...no 4, 7.5, etc. Glad you found them all. Now, time to fix the shorts that caused them to burn out...
