Thanks for the warm welcome! Just a note about my current Mav. It's a 1977 w/ dark green exterior, light green interior, vinyl roof, 302 w/ 2bbl carb, auto trans, a/c, and best of all 28,000 original miles. It had one previous owner and was garage kept the whole time. I even have the original bill of sale! I wonder what the conscientious is- mod it up or leave it cherry? Matt
whatever floats your boat. if i had a 28,000 mile original cherry mav, that's the way it would stay. then i'd pick up a second car for the restomod one.
That's what I'd do...Whats a cherry Maverick with 28,000 miles set you back, if you don't mind me asking.
Very True... i'd would change the bumpers to the small kind and add a grabber spoiler... i think that would give it more value than being original
I paid $4500 for it at a dealership in Pittsburg PA. I know that's alot but, a Maverick was my first car so I have a soft spot for it (my wife says in my head!). I'd have paid that much or more for a used daily driver so I'm happy with it.
Seriously; just leave the engine internally stock for now, and put a 4-barrel intake and carb on it, and dual exhausts. You already have disc brakes and electronic ignition, so you don't have to mess with that. Put some nice wheels & tires on it too. No need to get crazy with it, or make any permenant mods... Oh, and show us PICS...
The only thing I would do would be a small bumper swap ... and floor shifter swap if it doesn't have one. If the bumpers are mint there are several people on the board looking for nice Big Bumpers.
TL - I have already talked to my local mechanic about the dual exhaust and manifild. I looked at JC Whitney for Intake manifolds and 4bbls. The 4bbl is pretty straight forward but I'm confused when they state "no EGR provision" for the intake manifolds. Any idea what that means? Will it work on my 77 Mav? Dmhimes - What type of Bumpers should I look for? Thanks to both of you...
if you live in an area with smog checks or just want to keep an EGR valve on it, you could call around to junk yards and possibly get a four barrel EGR spacer plate. most fords had that instead of it built into the manifold anyway
Yes, listen to the board you will. Only minor modifications you will make. The best of colors green is-indeed!
