Post some very detailed pictures, Mods, mileage, or any other info you feel and then I might PM you an opinion on it's value. Notice I said opinion :D as that's what Value really is in the end. Individually or on a mass level. You may get what you are asking then again you may not. Market dictates price. Always has always will.

    This is not the classifieds.

Austin, I'm sure your Maverick is one of the nicest out there, but I can promise you, you will not get 20,000 bucks out of it. It's just not a realistic price for almost any Maverick at this point in time. You state you want to sale the car, but your price reflects absolutely no desire to sell it. I have only seen one Maverick go for that kind of money. It was an all out drag car that came with a large enclosed trailer and eveything.

You obviously weren't too tired to read it...

I know. That's the absurdity of it. I guess it's okay to be "impolite" to someone in the general discussion forum, as long as one doesn't do it in the Classifieds forum...

I have followed this thread from the start. You keep talking about the detail on the car. From the pictures that you have posted it showes the paint and grease marks on the rear end. My question is this. What good does detail of that level do for the value of the car beings that none of the stuff that is detailed was stock on that car. I have no doubt that you think that the car is worth $22,000. And I am not saing that it isnt. What I see in the photos is a 69 1/2 Mav that has had extensive mods done to it and the paint marks have no reflection on the worth of the car. Case in point--If you put a built 429 in a 68 GT500KG, does it make it worth more? Or you put an larger than normal sway bar under it and put the stock markings on it does it make it worth more? The answer to both questions is NO!!!!!! I know we cant judge our cars by those standards but you get the drift of the statement. The only way that all those markings will make the car worth more is if it had all the factory stuff still on it. If it was a bone stock, cherry, like off the showroom floor 69 1/2 with all the stickers and paint and inspection marks I would be more inclind to say yes it would be worth alot. But that is not the case. It is just a 69 1/2 that has been highly modified like many many others before it and many more to come. Dont get me wrong, if that is what you think the car is worth than that is what it is worth. But, I would probably say that you will have a hard time selling it here in the states. Canada I have no idea about. There may be some sort of Maverick black hole (RUST) that makes them that rare. Most of the people here on this site probably would not take $20,000 for the cars they have built from the ground up and have taken years to build. But that does not mean that they are worth that much with the exception of a few that have done everything in their power to inshure that their is as near mint and concorse as possable. Our cars are not rare mustangs, or AAR Cudas. They are Mavericks, the funist cars that Ford ever built. I look forward to your next set of pictures. I hope that you include some pictures of the interrior, engine compartment and under the car so we can see just what a $22,000 Maverick looks like from all angles.

I have a chance to buy 3 Mavericks and 1 Comet, all 2drs. One has been madified with a race prepped 302, top loader 4spd, and a 9" with 4.56 and a detroit locker. The guy wants $3,000 for all 4 cars. I am currently getting the $$$$$$ together to purchace them. I guess what I am tring to say is that here in the states the cars are not that uncommen and are not worth as much as in other countries. So keep that in mind when you get some comments about the worth of your car.

    Just my 2 pennies.
    Don

It's gonna be a tough sell at anywhere near that price here in Canada too, just the same as in the States. Possibly more so. My experience with folks I've run into around here is that most of them remember owning one, or knowing someone who owned one, and by and large they all liked them, but not to the extent of wanting to get another one, and certainly not for beaucoup bucks like that.

For me it all comes back to this; if you're going to buy one of these cars, it's a labor of love, so if you're buying it as investment with the intent of making a huge profit, it just ain't gonna happen.

This thread has turn into a dicusion on Maverick price more than me trying to sell my car. I'm OK with that . There are a million and one reasons why cars aren't worth what people are asking, but people are getting those prices every day.
Can anyone tell me why a 1973 Hemi Challenger clone is worth $125,000? The motor is worth what about $20,000 u.s. depending on the modifications. That still leaves a 1973 Challenger, not Charger or Cuda, a Challenger for $105,000. Does that seem right to any of you?
So now a Maverick with a lot of mods and a lot of nice work is still not worth 1/5 of that Hemi Challenger clone, or as they put it "re-creation". There are a lot of other examples of people asking insane amounts for there cars. So how does that make me insane? Now when you put it in perspective with todays classic car market, is my price really that high?

Austin, if you are really trying to sell it... post it in the correct forum, the "for sale" forum. This one is going to get you alot of advise or comments that you may not like or want to hear. I agree with most of what you say but I also know that I own a 73 Comet GT that I have spent ALOT of cash on and will never see it back, no matter what or when. All I can do is look forward to enjoing what I have created with modifications I have chosen. So, for the money you are asking...I would rather buy a fixer uper and buy what I want to install and paint it with the color and graphics and such of MY choice. I think I would save some money and have what represents me by doing so.
This place may not be the place to try to sell your car. Most of us here are trying to fix up or restore what we have.
I think I can say this in this thread as it is not in the "for sale" forum.
Furthermore, my car is worth $25,000 to me also, and if anyone wants to buy it, they can.:D

    Good luck, Gene/Blu

I just read an article in today's NY Times that might answer your questions. Here's a quote:

''The speculators buying lesser cars in hopes the rising tide of top-dollar muscle cars will make them wealthy are wrong,'' Mr. Comer said. ''''Market adjustments are inevitable. When that happens, speculators who bought marginal cars will get burned.''

So far nobody I know is speculating in Mavericks. Maybe they will in a few years, but I wouldn't bet $22K on it.

    Roz
