I'm installing the starter on the Maverick and have a question about the wiring.

Note: The starter is Ford's "Mini-Starter", the engine is out of a
    1990 Mustang.

The wiring, as far as I know, is the original - not sure if
there was a fuse in-line however.

    Which wire goes where?

    (pic 1 of 2)

Side note: Notice 'modified' starter bolt-hole in flange for
the 6208's. I still had to slightly 'flatten' the header tube in that area.

Do you still have the stock starter solenoid on the fender apron located next to the battery?

Rick-We need more information. Like someone else asked, are you running a Ford solenoid up on the fender apron? The harness your showing us is not a correct Maverick era harness, nor is it a 5.0 EFI Ford harness. It appears to be home made. Both the early Ford & EFI 5.0 Fords run a remote solenoid. The mini starter you have also has a solenoid attached to it. I believe post "A" should not have any thing attached to it. Post "B" is for the solenoid wire, but if you're utilizing a Ford remote solenid on your fender apron, then no wire attaches to that post either. Post "C" is for the positive battery cable, either from the solenoid or the Battery directly depending on your solenoid configuration. Factory Ford Racing Hi torque solenoids state that the fender apron solenoids must be utilized for installation.

Great. Just my luck - 'Hot Wire' has been at it again. I tried to
trace these into the fire-wall and underneath the dash. I stripped
some of the wires back and opened Pandora's box.

It does now look like they may have been set up for
    something else.

I'll be using the 1990 style solenoid, FWIW.

I'll have to do some more "strip searching" and mapping.

    Thanks Guys.

Stock wiring diagrams can be found on Charlie Ping's site

    http://www.geocities.com/cping3/WiringDiagrams.html

With a stock configuration you would run your battery cable from the starter side of the existing solenoid to terminal C, connect a jumper wire from C to B and leave A alone.

However it appears you have a tougher road ahead.

    Good Luck

Wire terminals b and c together and just wire in a regular solenoid up top like the car was born with. This will also cure future heat soak problems you might experience due to headers.

Big thanks for the link. I'm new to the Maverick neighborhood and was wondering where to get that info. Now I can figure out why the AC dosen't blow out correctly:yahoo:. Texas at 103 degrees, that's enough of that mess. Wiring diagrams are always a plus as well. Again Thanks!:thumbs2:
