Okay if i want to keep the stock pipeing and change just the muffler, what would be a good choice for more sound outside the car but not abnoxious inside? Or if i wanted to go all out and go duals, got any suggestions for that? I am just trying to get some ideas, dont know if money will allow right now. And secondly my 302 has one belt for the alt, then one that goes around the crank water pump then the ac compressor, with a tensioner to tighten the belt. How would the belt be run if you didnt have air? If you just had the alt and water pump. I might one day want to simplify and take out the ac pump, and trying to figure out how the belt would be run..

okay i am real SMART!!! Just went and looked at my belts. Defineately should of looked before i posted. My ac is dealer add on. Soooo they just bolted a pulley onto the crank pulley and ran a large belt up and around the ac and used the tensioner to tighten it up.. So i think i might just take off that said belt and tensioner and take off some load and drag on the front of the motor. So just forget the belt part.. But that brings up a new question! i smell a new post!

On my grabber I kept the stock exhuast but put a 2.5inch 2chamber flowmaster at the end in the stock location. With a slash cut tip on the end of it. looks nice and does it have a nice sound

Are you sure your air is dealer add-on? are the vents in the middle of the dash?

I been buying (ebay) The takoff O5-o6 Mustang mufflers. Got both of them with shipping for bout 50 bucks. You have to pipe mod, cut the curve and mig straight pipe in. They do sound sweet!

pretty sure it is dealer ad on. There is a vent in the middle of the dash with the fan and temp control right there, sounds like a seperate blower motor even, and you can tell by the ragged dash cut off for said center vent. And it also has those manual open vents on each side. So i am pretty sure it is a dealer add on. Even the pulley on the front of the motor looks add on. And i read the factory airs had a bunch of vac lines, well mine dont. I could be wrong but all the signs say it is dealer add on..

i got to looking today and man that ac compressor takes up alot of room! I may have to remove it if i decide not to fix it. But for now i just took off the belt and no more noise from that area, guess the belt was chirping some. And on the exaust, my brother has an old flow master off a mustang i might mount on it and see how it sounds. And something else i was wondering, how will say duals affect gas mileage?

Do what I did, get 2.5 in. exhaust pipes and have two flowmasters dump right behind the rear axle. Make sure to have the tips dump straight down. weeeeeeeeeeeee nice and noisy... great for setting off car alarms

A free flowing exhaust will improve economy as a rule of thumb but if you are putting them on a 72 - 74 car it will enhance the lean surge that those cars are famous for at 50 -70 mph. Installing jets that are two sizes larger will cure the problem and give better milage. I have to do this on my wife's latest car. Its a 73 with a 2bbl 302 and it surges so bad at 60 that I find myself pumping the gas pedal up and down to maintain a constant speed.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
flowmasters are too abnoxious i have them. but i like it. go with a magnaflow much quiter... i have those too but to me they are too quite... nothing makes me happy :p

my all time favorite muffler "The Terminator" remember the slogan "The Bad Boy of Muffers sez: BITE ME" they don't make them anymore but they sounded awsome... poor hp reviews but sounded bad ass like no other muffer i have heard. it had a rappy sharp sound not a low drone. if you ever saw my blue car a few years ago on HOT ROD TV you'll here the sound there... even though i said they had flowmasters on them... lol! never belive anything you hear on TV...lol!
