OK, I have been told to lose the clear plastic hose that goes from the oil pressure gauge to the plug in the block, and have also been told to steer clear of copper tubing. Is there an electric unit that still provides pressure, as opposed to just a dummy light? Part numbers would be appreciated...
yeah i have nylon tube , but i didnt know until the other day i seen most tracks ban that so i was browsing summit and they have stainless steel hose made for oil pressure gauges ill find a part number....
use braided hose & an fittings. you can get pre made -3 or -4 braided brake lines from jegs (maybe) or behrents in ny. you should be able to do it for close to the cost of a quality elect gauge & sender. jmho. i've never really had an accurate elect pressure gauge that reacted properly, plus the sender is usually bulky.& ends up on the end of 2-3 inches of brass pipe which i didnt trust.
What's wrong with the copper tubing? That's what I've had in my car for the past 26,000 miles without a problem. Electric oil pressure gauges should be available from any major gauge manufacturer I would think. The gauges I'm putting in my '69.5 are all electric.
Price is right on the summit part. Have to print that out and get it on my next order. So what is up with the electric? Seems like you would just screw it in, run the wire to the gauge...done.
Look at this one...never seen one like it...http://store.summitracing.com/partd...=SUM-800104&N=700+4294925228+115&autoview=sku Looks like the oil pressure sending unit is electric, too.
I never had a problem with copper. Eddie, 36 inches on the hose is not going to be long enough. Take a string and run from oil hole to where you want to mount gauge, gives you a idea how much you need.
Damn Scott.....just get the fittings and four feet of #4 hose from Texas Performance. Copper.....yuck. Vibrates and cracks.
Good idea. I don't like running engine fluids to the inside of the car ever since I had a mechanical oil pressure gauge leak and shoot oil all over the carpet.
Sure ... I use electric oil pressure and temp gauges in my car ... http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10001_10002_752319_-1_10339
the copper can crack from vibration, usually right at the compression fitting, is also very soft & can be crushed/split easily.
I have braided stainless, with an style fittings[mine are actuall steel fittins from a hydralic shop alot cheaper] The braided line is actually brake line for a DIRT modified stock car. Can't remember tha actual length but it has #4 ends and was only like $22.00 Derek.
