I just got a 77 maverick and i wanna rake the stance on it, the front end is pretty low and will only get lower when i swap the 6 cyclinder out for an 8, point is i need to know where to get some springs that will raise the back some. I have terrible luck with buying parts so if anyone could tell me where to get some rear springs i would appriciate it. thanks, Jordan
I would consider having a spring shop re-arch your springs. If you don't have a local spring shop check the Truck (Peterbilt, Frieghtliner) repair centers, spring repairs are common to these shops and they could probably get you 'Hooked Up' with someone who can.
JC Whitney has brand new 4 leafs. I personally wouldn't bother messing with the 30 year old originals.
. would re-arching or 4 leafs raise the back any, and also what do you all think about putting some lift shackles on the back?
DITTO No Stinking Shackles! A good spring man can put you where you want to be. Jamie may be right depending on costs. I kinda like my 30 year old American Made springs .
Hi there, A few friends and I have used a company called Espo Springs n' Things, 1-800-903-9019, they have a web site as well. I thought they were reasonably priced and will arch the springs to your requests. I ordered mine 1" over stock ride height, a buddy with a 68 Charger did his with a 2" over stock ride height. In hindsight I should have gone with the 2" over stock, oh well next time. Hope this helps. -Rob
im located in bend oregon " maverick man". what kind of stuff you have for sale. i wanna get that back end up pretty high
Jordan, Some advice ... these cars are already nose-heavy (light car with a V8 way up front). Keep the ass end down unless you want "the bowling ball syndrome". This is where the car gets loose in a corner and the back end rotates repeatedly around where the weight is concentrated, the front ... evil handling. Without jacking up the back end, it is already too easy to leave the road backwards at 90 mph. Ask me how I know ... one night in my first Comet. My angels must be able to fly pretty fast. Didn't hurt a thing. 100 feet later, could have run over a 3 foot tall electric company junction box (with however many thousands of volts) gas tank first. It would have been a quick death. By the way, the 18 year old that bought that car, wrapped it around a tree three weeks after buying it. If you want to rake the car, and make it handle better, concentrate on dropping the front, and perhaps consider a rear swaybar and adding a matched front bar. Best of luck with your car. Let's do it right, so that you can enjoy it, OK?
