If I had to guese, I would say your timeing chain jumped a tooth or two. Yes it can happen. Try advancing your dist. several degrees and see if it smooths out.

If it only jumped one tooth, it is a safe trick to get home, if you start jumping more, there isn't enough advance in the world to smooth it back out. It is only a diagnostic/get home in emergancy trick.

If it smooths out, that is your problem, go to napa (store of choice) get new timeing chain set, to include sprockets, gaskets, etc. slide 'em in and start over with the timeing(y) Its not a tough fix, only moderate mechanical skills required.:thumbs2:

If timeing advancement does not smooth it out, I would not neccesarily rule out a loose and jumped chain. You may have jumped past your ability for this test to work. However, if it has not happened before it would be quite an accomplishment to get that big of a jump from one fast exceleration

    Test is quick and free!

When I said several degrees, I mean about 16 degrees per skip. That is why it only works once...Hope it is something more simple, but because of how and when it started to miss, it sounds like a loose timming chain that has skipped. Again, best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes...Hope I'm wrong.
