I know of a few places online to get speedometer cable gears for AOD equipped cars (Mustang sites)...but do any of you know where to get new gears for C-4`s? I put an 8.8 rearend from a 92 Mustang into my wifes Fairmont that has 3.27 gears and I need a gear that will correct her speedometer.
I can give you the mathmatical formula for figuring out what number tooth gear to use if you want it.
take tire size find circumference multiply times pie divide by twelve to find feet per rev. divide that number into 5280. that is revs per mile. multiply times axle ratio divide by 1000 and multiply by number of output teeth on trans. Have fun
looks like the gear i need from that site is $20.00 for a 4.10 gear ratio.. i sent them an email and we shall see what they say.. i may get one, see what happens.. if it works, you will all know.. if it doesnt, i will tel you
Tire diameter X Pi (3.1416) to get the circumference (distance around the tire tread) Divide that into 63,360 (inches in one mile) to get revolutions per mile. Take that times the axle ratio then divide by 1,000.
