The 250 V6 Mavericks were very rare. 'Might be hard to find a chrome breather for that. ;)

A "previous owner" massaged the lower plate on mine to allow the breather to sit lower. 'Worked out nicely (if no one has another answer for you).

    p.s. You probably have an "in-line" 250cid 6 cyl.

Your gonna have a hard time with that one, ford even used shorter carbs with the 250 to make it fit under the hood. I wish i knew someone who made one, i just left the stock one on the 250 i had. At least it fit.

i used one of those really tiny chrome 4''(i believe) open element cleaners, but with out the scoop theres no way it would have fit. there really arent many options with out cutting a hole, even then the carb isnt centered in the engine bay like on a v8. its a little too "import" for me but one of those cold air set-ups with the long tube with the filter on the end would probably fit nicley down next to the batery

this would probably be your best bet. mustangs never had the 250 though, just 200's or less. since the 250 is 2-3'' taller you still might be having clearance issues.if it didnt fit use the base of your original aircleaner, cut off the "excess" and use the new filter and chrome lid.

I'll look when I get home or he (Dan Hines) can post up how he managed it if he sees this thread.

I agree. Please do not cut a hole in your hood.

I used the chrome air cleaner from Mustangs' Unlimited on my 250. I had to enlarge the carb opening in the base and cut an additional relief to clear the choke housing to get it to fit. It is VERY tight under the hood...in fact one corner of the air cleaner barely touches the underside of the hood. I also had to grind the wingnut down to clear the hood, but it works.

thats a very nice looking engine gene, what kind of dizzy is that? it sits alot higher than a stock one.

im currently trying to find an air cleaner set up also. the new carb is a 2bbl and the base of the cleaner is more of an oval shape compared to a 1bbl or 4bl carb

It's the Ford Six Performance DUI electronic distributor from www.classicinlines.com
It's very similar to the...ahem...GM style with the coil and ignition module all located under the cap. Starts and runs smooth. :thumbs2:

I've seen this option, and is what I plan to do with mine. Use the original base that is, and go with an open element. I think it looks as good as anything else:thumbs2:

Incorrect, the 250 came out in 69 and was available in the Mustang, my friend's sister owned and L code 250 69 sportsroof, fastback for those who call them that as well. And it got great gas mileage, about 25 on the highway, go figure light car, no options and a 2.79 rear gear.
