That's a rather unique throttle linkage but it looks like it works well. That is one way to put a two barrel on the sixes. You can also use a Ford Autolite 2 bbl if you machine the log manifold flat where the carb flange is, bore a couple of holes for non-restrictive delivery and mount an adapter. It is a bit more work but it will flow as much as the tri-power setup using three one barrels. You can even mount a 500 CFM Holley on it for a cammed 250.

check out fordsix.com they have a lot of info for the sixes, and yes there are 2bbl carbs for the I6's. all you need is a carb adapter and the carb and a little inginewity to hook up your linkages and such.

i used the stock throttle cable set up. all you need is the carb, adapter, nuts and bolts and an aftermarket trans downshift if you have an auto(which i havent got yet) and also an air cleaner to fit it. my carb is flowing 350cfm i think wich is plenty for a stock engine flowing through the 1bbl hole in the intake.

you can get your head drilled out to directly fit a 2bbl if you want to all that work, i took the "quick fix" route. its not like im going after serious power, just fun on the street. if my head ever makes it to a machine shop it would be getting alot more done to it than that anyway.

    Hey there Paul,

I know this is an old thread... but I found an Autolite 2 barrel and would like to stick it on my 200 c.i. six... I've seen listings for 3 different adapters... Summit, Stovebolt, and Cliffords... any idea which one would fit mine?

If I am not mistaken... and someone can correct me if I am wrong but last I heard, the stovebolt AND the Summit adapter both work and are basically the same but one was a little cheaper.

    2 barrel orientation and a 1" adapter

Found some good info on the web last night for research and parts numbers:

Carbs unlimited has a page of adapters with diagrams that shows the bolt pattern and measurements of different carbs. Mine has 5 1/8" x 3 7/16" bolt spacing so I guess that's the same as a Holley 2 bbl.

    http://www.carburetion.com/adaptors.asp

And they have a low adapter with the bolts inside:

    http://www.carburetion.com/_inv/invtocartpic.asp?part1=TD2044

(edit: that link points to a Chevy six; the next one is a Ford six)

They are only 1" high because the manifold bolts are INSIDE the housing (raises another question here...)

    so....

can you mount an Autolite sideways? Does that affect the operation of the float?

with bolts inside an adapter that's only an inch thick, does that affect airflow? I like the idea to lower the position of the carb (if it doesn't hit the intake or valve cover) but it just looks like turbulence to me... dunno if it would affect operation or make any difference on a little street car like mine.
