Did a Maverick Stallion come with a Stallion specific steering wheel that has the Stallion emblem in the center (like what is on the front fenders)?

I have a 76 Stallion, but does not have this wheel, but I have found a steering wheel that does have this logo in the center, am wondering if someone has changed mine in the past.

I am including a picture of this mysterious wheel, it may also be from a Pinto or Mustang Stallion.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Jon

I believe that steering wheel pictured is from the Mustang Stallion. I also have a Stallion and it has a regular black steering wheel in it. All the photos Iv'e ever seen of the Mavericks Stallions show them with the regular steering wheels. If I'm wrong about this I'm sure someone will set me straight. What colors are your Stallion BTW? 302 or 250?

I was thinking it might be from the Mustang, but wasn't sure.
My Stallion is silver with 302 and 3spd.

    Thanx,
    Jon

I think they put those steering wheels in Mustang II's with a different emblem. Not positive though.

It's a Mustang II steering wheel. It's not necessarily a Stallion only wheel. After 1976 they put it in a lot of Mustang IIs. My mom had a 1977 4 cyl Mustang II (bought new) and it had that steering wheel.

I'm not sure if that wheel was used in the Maverick Stallions or not. It would definitely fit, that's the wheel I have on my Maverick now.

Charlie, did your wheel have the horn button and associated parts? Reason I ask is one of Ford's better ideas back when this wheel was used was to put the horn "button" on the turn signal stalk. You pushed the stalk in to blow the horn. Tom

    Stallion wheel

The Stallion did not come with a specific wheel. The wheel is the same that came with all the other Mavs. I saw that on eBay and was thinking of bidding for s&g's but not for what the bidding went up to. If you want to keep yours original, like mine, keep the original steering wheel the way it is.

I ordered a sport wheel in my '76 Ford pickup. It sure looked like that wheel with a different center cap. I still think it looks great.

A 7 year old thread. I think that is a record .........

Anyway, I love a product called FLITZ. It has solvents built into the polish that cleans and shines all metals safely. I have cleaned many steering wheels with FLITZ and elbow grease.

Thanks for the tip, I haven't heard of Flitz, I'll be glad to give it a try. It will be nice to polish up the steering wheel a little bit.

So are the spokes on these stainless steel? I picked up one on ebay a while back and was surprised at the rust. I got it cleaned up but now I'm left with some pits.
