Most of the 6 cylinder cars had the smaller 7.5" rear.
The v8 cars had the 8" in 2.79 and 3.00 ratios. None came with traction lock from the factory.
The 8" center sections are all the same throuthout all the cars and trucks that used them as well as having other ratios.
The traction lock carriers use the same friction discs as the larger 9" rears.
The 8" rears will take a good 400 hp if in good setup and condition.
Like anything, they can still break now and then under high torque and slicks while racing. Many get away with more power, many don't over a period of time.
