OK, first of all NO SLAMMING MY UNILITE! I have seen the posts of the issues some have had. This has been in my car for over 20 years with zero issues. But, I do have a question. After my recent engine rebuild and cam swap I need to recurve the distributor. I odered the springs for it but have no instructions on how to access thm. After pulling the rotor and removing the light module how do I remove the cover tha shields the springs? Mallory has been bought out and I sat on hold today for WAY TOO long. So I though I would come here..
Loosen the screws on the side then the plate will lift up to access the springs and total timing limiter some have a tab to bend to limit total the newer ones have a set screw you loosen. I`ve had both
Got it, thanks! I did not want to strat removing screws until I knew which ones. I kept envisioning springs flying around the garage.
It seems like you just did a rebuild(memory?). If you added a roller cam in your build, you do know that you need a distributor gear to withstand that cam, right? Just thought I would mention that since lots of people don't realize it. Seth
Slam AWAY!!! I went with the comp cam 282s non roller. And yes, I LIKE MY UNILITE! It has the same module for over 20 yrs. I just need to get a few more degrees at 3000 than the factory curve gives me. Who will slam first???
In all honesty, I ran one years ago and after burning two of them out I got a good one and it ran forever. It was still working when I sold the car. But Unlit! GET IT! I crack me up!
