It's been almost a year since we bought our LDO 77' Maverick and today it offically became street legal. We drove it over to the inspection station this morning and it passed with flying colors. After leaving the inspection station I needed to stop at the post office, so the Maverick went on it's first trip down town. Driving through town we got several thumbs up and a lot of head turns. But the fun really started when we got to the post office. No sooner did we get there than a lady who was parked a few spaces away came running over to look at the car. I thought she was going to fall all over it. Then while I was in the post office, the lady behind the counter looked out the window and said " Oh! Look at that red Ford! Is that a Maverick?" I told it was a Maverick and that it was mine. She told the other guy behind the counter that she just had to look at it and the next thing I know she ran out the door to look at the car. Before I left the parking lot another lady came over to ckeck out the car. I do believe we have created a chick magnet! I don't think I'm going to let Dale drive this car too often.
That's awesome, people just looked at me funny most of the time trying to figure out what it was. A few knew what it was and those that do ussually got excited to see one.
Cool. I took mine to the local "cruise night" last weekend. First time since the new engine and wheels have been installed. All kinds of people were walking over to it & checking it out, looking in the windows and everything. That was kind'a cool...
I went to a local cruise night, tonight (it's every Friday). I got the samething. Everyone coming to look at the Maverick (I mean Comet). Oh, well! I don't mind being called a Maverick (I have a couple at home). I still hear all the stories & the wish I still had it. Of course it didn't look anything like yours. I like the color, comes up alot. It's great being different....
