Mine came from Mustangs Unlimited, they never mentioned anything about it. :(

    strut rod

Sucks that the car got dinged up because of this breaking. It would have been really ugly if it would have happened at a higher speed. It is cool that your brother wasn't hurt, and glad to hear that you have decided to fix your car.

I had my driver's side strut rod break while the passenger side tire was going over a speed bump at 10 mph. The drivers side was on level ground. It wrenched the steering wheel right out of my grip. Probably would have put me head-on into oncoming traffic if I had been on the road ... :yikes:

My car had the original rubber bushings at the time. The strut rod had a crack halfway through at the end of the threads and it had a bit of rust in the crack, so I probably drove it for a long time like that before it let go.

I'm sure this is a silly idea, but do we have a safety section under tech info or any other place.

I'm sure those that have been at it a long time know all about the potential problems with this vintage of machine, but us youngn's do not!

Just a thaught, I have so few

the only time i have ever heard of a strut rod breaking, was when someone hit a curb at a high rate of speed.

    hope you get it fixed..

I did run over a curb one time, but I believe the poly bushings are what ultimately caused them to fail in this case. Regardless, I will keep an eye on the condition of the strut rods anytime I'm under the car from now on.
