If you overheated it then yeah, you probably popped a head gasket if its blowing smoke.Do a compression test to determine for sure if its a head gasket.Look for oil in the coolant, coolant in the oil.Did the engine smoke any before the pump died???Good luck.

overheating?? it may have put it over the top.If it were an oil leak it would be blue smoke.Does the exhaust smell like coolant??? Not to scare you but you could have cracked a cylender bore if you got it hot enough.I tend to think you popped a head gasket.Did you overheat it???????

Sounds like its time for a re-build.Bad rings. If it puffed on start up only I would say valve guides. If only on acceleration, valve seals.Smoking all the time though, most likely rings.Do a compression test, see what kind of shape that engine is in.Lok at the plugs as you pull them out,see if they are oily, sooty, clean etc...You can learn alot about your engine by looking at the plugs and doing a compression test.If the smoke is black you are running too rich.Greyishwhite and blue sounds like a head gasket.Check it out and let us know what you find.

Sounds like you found your blown head gasket on the driver's side...
Worst case would be a broken ring, again though, you got it narrowed to 4 of the 8 pistons.
Alot of times though, a bad/broken ring will cause pressure out of the dipstick.
Have you noticed anything like that?

let it set a few days...pull a plug or two off that side.if they have surface rust...blown head gasket. (as long as they are not oil soaked).
