Got in the car tonight to go to dinner, and found the lights, all of them, flickering very rapidly. Really wierd. I am heading out on a trip Wed., and could use some help with this one. This car has a new alternator, 95amp 3 wire, and charges up just fine (at least the gauge says so). Any help appreciated! :hmmm:

Earl, 2 things come to mind for me. I had that happen to me, the dimmer switch had a wire going to it get frayed,, that was the problem. Next I would suspect the headlight switch. Keep us posted.

Thanks, Dan. I'll check those out tomorrow. Hope I can find a headlight switch, if it comes down to that!

Is it flickering at idle, or at all speeds?

Just noticed you said all of the lights,, dimmer switch would not be a culprit.

My 72 did that.It turned out to be high resistance in the feild wire from the voltage regulator.(had an ugly splice in it)I replaced the whole wire and the problem went by by.

Define flickering. Is it going on/off or on/brighter? If on/off, like Dan said, probably the headlight switch. If on/brighter, I would suspect charging malfunction.

The lights just have a fast flicker that goes away when the revs get up a bit. Hope it isn't the Alt. That booger is expensive!

Think I found the problem. I have the ignition fused through a fuse block. All I did was change the fuse from one location to another on the block, and the problem went away. Might have to go with an inline fuse and do away with the block. Thanks for the input.:tiphat:
