Holla, new to the website and new to Mavericks. Best purchase ever made. Lots of fun to work on. Last week i started my restoration project. Began stripping in/out. Looking for hidden rust, which i found. But mainly surface rust. Starting next week I should be able to begin sanding all rust off. Just a couple of questions maybe some one could help me with. I'm a little confuse on the process of stripping the engine bay. What should or should not take out. Also, after sanding what would be good to spray on in order to prevent rust from reappearing? If anyone could help me with that it would be much appreciated. Thanks.
AMEN TO THE SEMI GLOSS BLACK RUSTOLEUM!! but as far as stripping the engine bay..if your good w/ engines and wiring just take everything out..thats what i did. makes it alot easier. and the early ford motors are fairly easy to wire seein how they dont have an ignition module..although i would change to one first thing i did...makes it start/run better IMO...hope i could help
thanks, for replies, will try that . also, does any one now of a good reference on removing the whole dash area? i need to get in there to sand some more rust i just found.
new to the forum how yall doing im david i am a LAV mechanic in usmc. i just got back from iraq and bought a 70 maverick 2dr 200 I6. plan to swap out the 6 for a 302 maybe chop the shock towers. plan on keeping a c4 behind it. sounds pretty easy i have put a 331 stoker with a 6 pack in a 89 ranger ext cab so im sure im not going to have any problem. But thanks for all the tech info its going to make it go alot smooter. david
leaf springs how yall doing, i was wondering if the leaf springs off a 4dr mav or any other car would work cause of course mine is sagging like theres a 300 pound person in the back seat. so far i have a disc brake set up off a 74 mav going to keep it manual. some bucket seats from a 70 mach 1.plan on rebuilding the suspension first off cause the car has 171k on it feels like your driving on water reminds me of my 68 monterey fastback i used to have, but suprisingly still has pretty tight manual steering on it.
I was finally able to pull my engine. I want to try and rebuild it. Does anyone know any good reference on 250 I6?
