Hey everyone I found some info some of you might want about the 2.3 in our mavs/comets. Here's the picture I found in a brazilian site: http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=4522&c=8 and the argentinian falcon mounts for the 2.3 also (don't know if these are the same, but perhaps they are) http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=4498&c=8&userid=4683 http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=4497&c=8&userid=4683 I've a catalog for the argie parts. But I haven't found any brazilian parts catalog for the moment. Hope this helps to the community!
Hmm...I've been looking at the images and realized they're very different from each other. Maybe it's because most Argentinian Falcons were 6 cylinder (except for the 2.3). They didn't come with a crossmember like V8 equipped Mavs/Comets. So there might be 2 options to do the swap, one with crossmember and another withouth it, like 6 cyl mavs/comets. I attached a comparison I made with the manuals I dloaded. I'll search for some argie falcon engine mounting views.
it's not like I had money growing from trees, or that I went to take a dump and came out with cash in my pocket. I'm just researching what's the setup for the 4 cyl swap. But there's a problem, where could someone locate those parts? Is there a Ford parts catalog which you can get all those parts with the numbers?
I'm not selling any engines I just thought the prospect of such a powerplant within grasp might motivate others with similar interest to answer your question. I hope that someone around here can eventually import those Brazilian, Argentinian, Mexican and Aussie parts we all dream of on a regular basis. I drive a cab in San Diego, and there are rather large Brazilian and Portuguese communities here. I've considered finding someone to handle importing them, but what kind of volume could they do? Even less than what could be considered a cottage industry. We'd need to find another hobbyist like us.
yeah, that's what we need. I asked a paraguayan (sp?) from another forum about this, he talks spanish and owns a 4 cyl mav. I'm waiting for his response. I'm gonna tell him to join the forums too! Sorry if my last post was somewhat hostile
