I ordered the basic report and the door jamb VIN decal. Kevin called me today at work to let me know that my Maverick, oddly enough, was built in Canada, and they didnt have the proper VIN decal. I told him the USA one would be ok, since mine has nothing at all at this point. Still, the basic report, at $17 is a bargain, let me know what color my car was, interior, so if this stuff ahs been changed, I will at least know about it. All in all, its a pretty cool thing. Just my .02. . . .
Keep in mind that a big portion of his business is for people needing to verify original engine/tranny/options that came with a car. Cars today that bring in the big bucks came with high performance engines, trannies and were loaded with many or even ZERO options. Kevin Marti's reports help sellers verify what they claim to have when selling a car at auction such as E-bay allowing distant buyers to be more comfortable making bids. Lois Eminger used to do the same type of stats for many Fords. She retired. Kevin Marti is the only game in town now. A Maverick or Comet is probably the least interesting report that he produces...aside from a Pinto report, as engine/tranny combos were very limited and none of them were performance options. Even still the stats, build date, dealer info, date sold etc. is all nice information to have. It is also nice if you are restoring your car, so that you will know exactly what the car came with. Seth And no, I don't own Marti stock!
Fords 999 report is almost identical to Marti's Standard Report ... except for the fact it is free from Ford ...
Not really, my 999 report did not list the GT package on my 71 GT, nor did it mention the Sprint package on my Sprint. Marti's report had them both.
The main reason I even got one, and I assume I could have gotten the VIN decal separate from the report, was curiosity. Come on, I waste more than $17 a week on coffee and snacks at work, it certainly wont break me to learn a little more about my current automotive obsession. If it were to become a drag car, I probably wouldnt have bothered, as I wouldnt have needed a VIN decal. It's just something neat to have. Besides, there is always the possibility my car is a grabber, it did have fenders from different car, and the quarter end caps are not original to this car either, nor was the trunk lid. Who knows, I may have something more than I thought I had?
