I installed the pumpkin this week and the rain finaly let up enough to "test the posi!" Straight line is full lockup leaving 2 nicely painted stripes. Right turn there is the "clicking" that I expected from the unit. BUT, on a turn to the left the clicking turns into a "clunking" I have rotated the tires on jack stands like instructed that is meant to "lock" the axles. Ideas? (sound coming from right tire, outside in the turn) Scotty

Different parts are rotating when you go around a corner from left to right . One way the diff housing goes slower and the other it goes faster relative to the speed of the vehicle .

So maybe that changes the tone of the noises . Just a theory .

I've heard the same complaint from other people about powertrax, but never heard of any explaination.
I know what you mean about the mini spool.

I will. I am pulling the one axle this weekend. Richmond tells me that sometimes the side gears are set too tight and the axle will not disengage all the way in a turn. I am looking to see if there are any shiny spots on the teeth. I am frustrated because it is only one axle. Turns the other way are great, just a slight clicking sound that really can not be heard over the Flowmasters it does feel a little strange in a tight turn (i.e. u-turn) as one wheel does slip a little. But straight line it hooks great. Will let you know next week.. Scotty

I found the problem. When you first install the unit the axles need to be "locked" into the system. They explain this quite well in the manual but somehow I failed to "finish" the job.The procedure is simply rotating the axles in opposite directions until they engage. Evidently the one side did not engage. Drove it all over town yesterday with no problems. I got up to speed and shut down the engine and made some sharp turns. There is a clicking that can be heard on both sides but it is really faily quiet. With the flowmasters and the drag radials picking up every grain of sand on the road, you can not hear the rear with the engine running. I am happy! Oh, I did do a "little" launch test behind the local grocery store. Works well.. scotty

Glad to hear it works for your Scott! I'll have to get together with you some weekend, but the rear is going to be out of my Mav soon so I can put on the new leafs and then slap on the swaybars I have had sitting in the garage for a long time. Should handle much better.

Sounds great! I just put new springs in mine (4leaf ESPO) be prepared for a "lift" in the rear of 2" or so... Still thinking of how to lower mine back down.. Scotty P

Yep, I heard about the lift, so I went with the three leafs. Hopefully they won't raise it too much. Lowering blocks would be an option for mine because it's purely a street car. I'll let you know how it goes.

glad to hear you found the problem with your locker.......as far as the clicking i would rather hear the diff racheting than the tires squalling lol
