lower a arm

    can shims be used on our cars... lower a arm? for front end alignment

    No lower "A" arm on a Mav. The lower control arm has an offset washer in the pivot to adjust it in or outward.

    my dad has a falcon, and i told him it couldnt be shimmed, the guy who did his alignment said lower a arm needed shimmed....so we had this conflict! theres no way lower can be shimmed

    The lower arm is adjusted for camber by turning the mounting bolt eccentric and adjusted for caster by moving the strut rods in and out.

    If he has an early falcon it would be shimmed on the UPPER control arm.

    This is correct, the early Falcon's did not have the eccentric like Mavericks do, and the camber on them is adjusted by placing shims between the upper control arm and shock tower. I'm guessing there is some confusion between your dad and the alignment guy as to the upper and lower control arm.

    This is why it's best to post non Maverick/Comet related technical posts in the forum down near the bottom of the main page called "Other automotive tech and talk", to avoid confusion.
