There are factory trunk mats made out of a vinyl material. They are avaliable from AutoKrafters, and a couple other places. As far as the carpet, so are pretty much limited to what you can make for the trunk. Good luck.

Clean it up and go get some of that spray in bed liner. I had my new truck bed done and that stuff is great. I think when I do my Comet, I'm going to have this stuff sprayed in my trunk. There is a world of difference between the do it yourself stuff and the professional stuff. I'd use the professional stuff.

It is funny you posted this! I am almost finished with my solution to the crappy looking trunk. I could not find anyone who made molded carpet for the Mav trunk, so I made panels out of ½" thick foam board that is used for insulating houses that I covered with OEM style felt trunk carpet that I bought thru JCWhitney for about $25. I forget how much you get for that price, but it is more than enough for one trunk(and a few mistakes:p).
I found this plastic molding at Lowe's that I glued to the floor where I wanted a "track" for one of the panels. I glues the carpet to the panels with 3M spray glue. To bring the whole thing together, I used industrial strength Velcro(the hooked side). The velcro sticks to the carpet perfectly, holding any seems in place. I have the battery in the trunk on the driver's side in a box, that is why there is that boxed in area there. I bought the spare tire cover from a Mustang supply place a while ago. Everything seems pretty sturdy at this point, but since it is all new, I have no idea how it will hold up...that will be a test for next summer...:)

    ...and the other side...

The contrast is not all that great. It is not as perfect and seemless as the picture shows...but I don't think it looks too bad!

MavMarks Trunk looks good, and i'm going to do mine in a simlar way. Except im going to use MDF (medium density fiberboard), The spray on glue is an awesome idea and thats what i'm going to do myself. Useing a carboard template I'll make the plans for the trunk bottom to cover the gas tank and frame area. Then Cut out the template using the MDF.....then spry on the glue and cover the MDF in felt, like wize you can make panels to go on the sides with the 1/4 panels to make it look really nice... it does add extra weight, so i'm going to make mine removeable for dragracing weight issues.

    Well thats the theroy anyway

WOW!!! I think that looks pretty sharp. Definately will have to consider that as an alternative to the spray in stuff.

Thanks for the positive comments guys...
I was originally intending to go with the MDF, but then I found the molding "tracks" that were ½" and that's why I went with the styro-board. This whole project sort of evolved...I am glad that it has turned out as well as it has. I hope to be able to make a tech article about it at some point. :)
