200ci engine from Hiperformer?

    Does anyone have experience or comments on this company on ebay: Hiperformer.
    I found a 200ci engine that's going for about $1080 ($1400 with shipping and core fee). I could just have my engine rebuilt but don't know how much that would cost so I thought this would be just an easy swap.

    Never dealt with them, but their description looks pretty convincing. I'd have a hard time bringing myself to pay 1400 bucks for a 200 though... There are good running used engines out there for not even a fraction of that.

    u probably right, I'm being lazy.
    What do you think about having the engine rebuilt? Would that be a lot more?
    I'll look around for some used ones.

    I honestly don't know, I have never had an engine rebuilt. I guess it would depend on how much, if any, of the assembly you can do yourself and what kind of deal you can get on the machining. I'd get in the phone book and call around to local machine shops and see what they say about it.

    It may be worth it for that engine if you have the money, and want something you can just drop in and go, but there are better deals out there.

    I'll do that. At least that way I'll get an estimate and see whether it's worth it.

    Check with Autozone or Checkers and see what their rebuilt engines sell for. if you do it yourself you can get a master rebuild kit for under $350. Add any necessary machine work to that and you can figure what you're paying for the rebuild labor. Even if you buy the motor you need to pull the old engine and install the new one. might see what a garage would charge for a rebuild if you deliver the engine to them. :)

    The problem with crate rebuilds is that one never knows exactly what got done and by whom. If you are looking for a stock engine for a daily driver, I suppose this would suffice. These blocks should not be bored more than .040 or issues with overheating start occuring. The heads on the early 200 engines are garbage and severly restrict flow. That is why knowledgeable people go for the later 70's heads which have larger logs and valves to improve flow. If one is looking for performance, then go with an OZ 250 head or the new aluminum CNC milled version, both of which will add more horsies to your ride. These will give you many fuel options including fuel injection.
