Take a look at this one guys. It has the 62D code but look at the color and the trim on the car. Doesn't appear to be anything close to Grabber scheme. I know that a car can be repainted but now look at the door tag and you can see the green paint UNDER the clear tape that covers the sticker inside the door jam?? Just kind of Odd. Any other odd things that you can pick out about the car??
if it's this one, it's a grabber. its just been repainted at some point. notice the white comfortweave door panel http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...oryZ6057QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
sorry I didn't think this post went through. Our network here at work went a little haywire. yeah that is it http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ford...215947734QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item110215947734 I definetly can see by the door jam tag that it is the correct code for a Grabber it just struck me as being odd with the trim on the sides and the fact that the color paint that the car is painted can be seen behind the clear tape that covers the door jam sticker. Does anyone else see what I am talking about in this picture
Neat color combo ... Green with white interor and white vinyl top ... never saw that before on a Maverick just Comets ...
Paint Looks original to me as well...what throws me is the grabber stripe color....it had to be black stripe from factory.
More than likely, since it was repainted in the original color, they just didn't repaint the door jambs, hence the green under the decal matching the rest of the door jamb paint. I can't tell from the pictures, but the body side mouldings appear to be the stick-on kind. I've seen those on Grabbers before. Not common, but I've seen that. No matter what the seller claims, it's been repainted and they just didn't add back the stripe kit, either due to cost or lack of availability. It could have had the gold and white stripe kit or the lime and lime (2-tone green) kit. The gold and white kit would look pretty nice with that white vinyl top and interior. And yeah, white interior on a Grabber is really rare. I'd like to see a Marti report on it. Well optioned too...
Nice car to resto ... surprised it didn't sell yet for $4K .... also the two-tone dash is a giveaway that it's a Grabber ... Also ... since the seller is more than likely incorrect ... those look like the correct Maverick Buckets that have been re-upholstered in black ... probably with a Mustang Repop kit ...
I went and looked at this car last weekend, car is advertised on craigslist for $2,400, another of the interesting things I saw on the car was the wheelwell trim, it had a rubber strip on the outer edge about 1/4 inch wide. The seats are not original to car they are Mustang seats, This is a car dealer that has the car and he has known the car since it was new and said it had LDO seats in it originally. Car needs work but is in pretty good condition as far as rust goes.
LDO bucket seats in a 71 - 72 Grabber ive never seen that!, maybe it was somethin you could order, id still like to know what color stripe it had, like Chuck said, could been ginger and white! maybe even lime/lime....intresting car nun the less.
What a great car... I'd love to see a marti report on it. Has to be pretty damn rare. If it did in fact have LDO buckets, I'm guessing they were probably dealer installed...? Were white LDO buckets available from Ford?
It's way more likely that those are the correct seats ... no way it came with LDO seats. Do the buckets currently in the car have the correct Maverick Hi-Back bucket seat tracks?
