Need to keep the same imbalance. Stock for 302 was 28 oz, newer 5.0 engines run a 50 oz imbalance. Not sure of I6...

A heavier plate will take a bit more energy to spin, but will keep that momentum when you drop it in gear, for a quicker takeoff.

A lighter plate would make it spin up faster.

But this would be standard trans, not auto. With auto, you just need to get the correct imbalance and number of teeth (157--for small bellhousing)

Wouldn't worry to much about weight on a c4. Lot's of other things to do for better performance, like rear gear ratio and a good trans build. Std. shift cars can handle either heavier or lighter flywheels depending on the use and what tranny is used. Have driven many race cars with "NO FLYWHEEL" and one gear in the box. Had a splined button on the crank and only nuetral and foward gear. These were mostly on circle tracks and had to be push started. Draw back was that you had to keep the rpm's up all the time in the corners on dirt ovals, or the engine would just quit at a certain point because of lack of inertia to keep it spinning over. But they were darned quick coming off each turn and down the straight aways.

Being 400 cubes and running on alcohol in a go-kart didn't hurt that acceleration either did it?? :)
